O.M.G!! See The Giant Pythons Of Ihiala In Anambra State (Photos)

In many places in Igboland, the python is regarded as a ‘sacred being’ which no one is expected to kill, harm or maltreat. It is an age-long observance because to most Igbo communities, Eke or python is seen as the symbol of the sea or river goddess.
It protects and provides for the people, both in terms of wealth, fertility and long life. To the people, eke is a harmless ‘being’ and it is actually harmless to those who do not kill it.

To them, eke symbolises peace, prosperity and abundance, especially in the waters.
At Umuohi, Okija, in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state, a man called Ukata Nnanna in an interview gave a clearer picture of why the eke has come to be regarded as being so sacred and in some places is worshipped as a goddess.
“The story of eke we have here is sacred and different. But before we go on, it is good to point out that the mystery surrounding eke is greater than most of us can actually understand.
Our own case is quite peculiar. In the olden days, our people used to provide shelter for strangers.
This was how the issue of eke became a symbol of respect and regards here in our village”, Nnanna said, grinning and shaking his head repeatedly.
“There was one certain aged widow who was said to have been driven away by her husband people. She set out on a journey, a journey she did not know where it would take her.
When she got to Umuohi, Okija, she stopped and begged our people to provide a place for her to rest her feet. She was by then too tired to continue on her way.

“Our people did not only give her a place to settle down, she was also asked to remain with us.
Without knowing it, our people had given shelter and hope to a woman with plenty of mysterious powers.
Before the woman died she made a lot of promises to our people. In the first place she asked that her house be built by the riverside.
No one knew why she made that sort of request. But then at her death she decreed that no Umuohi woman should be maltreated by her husband people.
And wherever she is married to, on the first night of her arrival, a python would appear to encourage and strengthen her.
To date, this situation still exists; that once an Umuohi woman is being threatened at her husband’s place, a python appears, sometimes a very big one that would frighten people out of their wits.
For this reason, a lot of people are sceptical about marrying an Umuohi woman.
“The woman did not even die. She turned into eke. She lives inside the Okpu stream or if you like river, which is along Owerri-Onitsha road, Anambra state.
There you can see this big python and it comes out once the sun is out to suntan. This is what it does everyday. It is so huge that a lot of people are scared of it,” Nnanna stressed.
“But we the Umuohi people are not,” he boasted.
The python which is called eke ogwugwu-mili therefore is said to be the mother of all the pythons that litter the length and breath of Igboland.
Today, anyone who kills or maims eke either knowingly or unknowingly is compelled to buy all the necessary materials with which to bury it.
These range from white cloth, to coffin, kola nuts, white chalk and so on. The coffin would be placed in a conspicuous place where passers-by are wont to pay condolences and show some sign of remorse.
Where one fails to bury the eke in the traditional way, more stringent punishments will be placed on him and members of his family.
Sometimes he would be ostracised or banished from the land depending on the circumstances of the death of the python. Some even have small pox sickness placed on them.
It is because of all these that eke does not bite the natives of Okija and other places where these observances are made.
If eke bites one by error, all it does is to hiss, and then the bite will have no effect on the person. Even then, Christians also obey the law; they too do not kill eke.
Why would anyone kill it when it does not harm him? Some people would often ask.
Eke is a common sight in many places in Igboland where they are at liberty to crawl without let or hindrance.
There is the eke Idemili (for Idemili, river). There is also eke Ogba which is supposed to be the king of all the pythons.
That one lives inside huge forests and so has no contact with human civilization.
Each area gives the eke a name according to what it does for them and the deity it represents.
For some, it is eke atamili’ or eke nkwo ocha, all in the name of what place it has in their communal lifestyle and existence.
Today at Umuohi, Okija, eke still remains their symbol, some kind of rallying point.
And you are not expected to treat their daughters with disdain and disrespect.

7 Reasons Why You Should Get Married Early

Image result for marriage
In fact, there are certain plausible advantages of getting married at a younger
age. The belief that early marriage comes as a burden and an incomprehensible
commitment, is not really a standard that applies to all.
So, here are some reasons that explain why marrying early can be a good decision.
#1. The perfect age saga
Marriage is more about the ‘perfect person’ than the ‘perfect age’. Many argue
on the necessity of being prepared for marriage. But in reality, you can never be
prepared for it whether you are in your 20s, 30s or 40s.
So, if you find your prince charming or dream girl at an early age, then there is no point actually waiting for long to get married. It is all about spending the beautiful moments of your life with the person you love . So, think about finding the right person rather than waiting for the right time to arrive.

#2. You get more quality time with each other
The young couples usually do not have the pressure of achieving parenthood immediately after their marriage.
In fact, they get enough time to know and understand each other before the biological clock starts ticking. So, when you get married early, you have a lot of time on your hands before you indulge into family planning or saving money for future.
You can enjoy your life with your partner without worrying much about these things. You can see the world together and steer your life the way you want it.
#3. More harmonious relationship
You are more likely to be a companion and a friend to your partner rather than just being a husband or a wife. While you would be learning to live life as adults, you would be more flexible with each other and more open to compromise.
Also, you will have enough time to adjust with each other’s temperament, and understand one another before you delve into more serious and deeper responsibilities of life.
This way, you are likely to be more compatible than the couples who get married late.
#4. More lovemaking time
You will get to experience those beautiful moments of cosy lovemaking with your partner more frequently as compared to those who get married late. It surely will help you to feel strongly connected with your partner emotionally as well as physically.
And since you do not have the pressure of having kids right after your marriage, there is ample time to thoroughly enjoy this time with each other.
Also, many researches show that after having kids, the couples usually experience a dip in their lovemaking activities due to reasons like low energy, lack of time etc.
5. Sharing each milestone
The milestone of achieving parenthood is of course one thing, which every couple experiences together. But when you marry early, there is a lot more that you achieve as well as celebrate together. Whether it is buying your first car, moving in to your own home, achieving success in career- the happiness increases manifold when you have a partner by your side to share these amazing experiences of life.
#6. Being a great parent
As you would have spent so much time together, you are expected to share a
really strong bond with each other. This level of understanding between the two of you is one of the key requirements of being a great parent.
When you attain parenthood in your twenties, you are all the more excited as well as energetic to spend time with your child.
On the other hand as you grow old, you might be burdened with issues like financial well-being of your family or your own health.
This will take away the time from you to be with your child. Furthermore, seeing your child become independent before you retire is an achievement in itself.
While you become a proud parent at the right time, do not let it take away the
charm from your married life.
#7. A second chance
Although this is not at all desirable, but if at all things go terribly wrong in marriage, the younger couples get a slightly better chance to bring everything back on track.
Since they would have already shared many ups and downs together, they would know how to handle each other during tough times.
Surely, an early marriage is no recipe for success. But, it is necessary to understand the nuances of a marriage to make it an accomplishment.
Getting married by mid-twenties is a great option and with the above reasons, we hope
you know why.

RCCG Suspends Pastor Over Pasuma’s Invitation

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) through its provincial headquarters on Lagos Island has cancelled a three-day outdoor crusade of one its parishes.

The cancellation came after the criticism that followed the invitation of the Fuji musician Wasiu Alabi Pasuma as a guest artist for the crusade.

Pasuma’s picture appeared on the handbill advert alongside the gospel singer Tope Alabi and a former band leader of the late Fela Anikulapo’s Egypt 80 band, Kereke Jike.

Naij.com gathered that the decision to stop the programme was because the church headquarters felt the idea to bring Pasuma and his fans to the church was not well conceived. A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the organisers did not do a detailed consultation before going ahead with the programme.

He also said that as a result the programme has been cancelled and the pastor in charge of the church along with the organising committee has also been suspended as they now await sanction for dragging the name of the church into the mud.

The crusade organised by Province 20 and tagged ‘Lagos Island Family areas forum’ was expected to feature Pastor Keji Hamilton and billed for Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25.

Naij.com further learned it was a fan of the Fuji lord who worked at the press where the posters and fliers were being printed who leaked the artwork of the posters and fliers of the event.

A few months ago a church was criticized for inviting a secular singer, Mavin Records’ Korede Bello, to perform his hit single ‘Godwin’ during the Sunday service.

Policeman Orders Woman To Bare Her Breast In Public Or Be Arrested (photos)

After Aba I moved to Owerri in a public bus and I immediately regretted doing that. Owerri is not as bad as Aba sha. It had calm to it but I saw bad road, mounds of uncleared refuse, but more absurd the number of roundabouts in that town for no reason and way too many billboards of Rochass that makes one dizzy.

We were stopped every 5 mins and the driver submitted 50 naira to the police and 100 naira to the Army. At a point I complained.

I was laughed at, what do I know. You are all shouting corruption and aiding corruption but nothing prepared me for the next stop. We got here.the driver ran out of 50s so he decided to play smart and we were stopped.

The police man told us he would search us all. I refused to let this pervert put his hand on my body because I saw the way he was feeling the female up. Mercifully I was on power dressing and when I said you don't have such right to touch me, he knew I would not be toyed with. After he searched others. He still refused to let us go then he faced this woman with a baby and said he needed proof to confirm the child was hers .
..

The woman brought out the babies hospital card and wanted to call her husband, he refused and said the woman should breastfeed the child, so madam decided to mock the he goat policeman so she laughed at him and brought out her breast, entered the car and started feeding her child. Oga police said no way. He has to see Tip and milk. At that point I flipped and told the woman to pull the breast out proper and show him dripping milk , another man would have been ashamed not this one he stood there and made the woman splash milk. That was his proof the child was hers and we were allowed to leave.

I saw something. This country is sick. If I saw his number I would have taken it to Arase's group. But they were not numbered and that itself is totally wrong.

[News] More than 30 civilians have been killed in a Saudi-led coalition airstrike at a factory in northern Yemen, according to a witness.

People gather near a truck hit by a Saudi-led air strike in Yemen's northwestern province of Amran
Issa Ahmed, a resident in Hajjah province, told the Reuters news agency the bottling plant was hit on Sunday morning.
He said: "The process of recovering bodies is finished now.
"The corpses of 36 workers, many of them burnt or in pieces, were pulled out after an airstrike hit the plant this morning."
The Saudi-led coalition intervened in the Yemen conflict in March and has staged an aerial campaign that has wiped out territorial gains made by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
On Friday, air raids killed 65 people in Taiz - most of them civilians - and last month 65 people including 10 children were killed after a milk factory was hit in western Yemen.
Human rights group Amnesty International said earlier this month that the Saudi-led campaign has left a "bloody trail of civilian death", which could amount to war crimes.
More than 4,300 people have been killed in five months of conflict in Yemen.
Militias and army units loyal to exiled President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi have made significant gains towards the Houthi-controlled capital Sanaa in the last two months.
Members of the exiled government have cited reports that accuse the Houthis of shelling and blockading civilian areas.
