Biker, passenger killed in crash near Newcastle

Cape Town - A motorcyclist and his passenger were killed when the bike they were travelling on collided with an SUV just outside Newcastle on Allen Road before the N11 bridge on Saturday morning.
Four other people sustained moderate injuries in the crash, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing confirmed.
Upon paramedics’ arrival at 08:30, they found a man and a woman lying next to the damaged bike and vehicle.
The two, believed to be in their 40s, were assessed and found to have sustained multiple injuries.
“Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for them. They were declared dead,” Bodasing said.
“The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and the passengers in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries. They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.”
Authorities were on the scene to investigate the incident.
